We've thought a lot about Leonard since his untimely death. We were just getting to know him better and regret that our time with him was cut short. Between us we shared a number of interests with him and also had fun exposing him to some of the things we enjoyed but were viewed as odd by Leonard. For example he had a bit of a hard time understanding how anyone could sustain themselves on a vegan diet; he did his best to cover his disgust with one of Sue's mushroom creations. He always tried hard to figure out where Sue was headed with her abstract, earth toned art. Given his great curiosity he liked to discuss our Zen practice with us, but the look on his face when we mentioned that Buddhists did not believe in the existence of a soul was classic. Apart from that we had many great and lengthy discussions, sometimes late into the evening; Leonard's breadth of interests was really refreshing. Some of the lunches that Karl and Leonard spent, discussing physics, operating systems and the afterlife were pretty unforgettable. His boundless generosity was always inspiring to us. We had one of our best new years eves when Leonard opened his home to a few of his orphan friends. He held his nose and made us some of the best organic vegetarian spaghetti sauce imaginable. Spending the entire evening watching the first 3 seasons of one of Leonard's favorite TV shows, Sex in the City, was surprisingly festive (especially for those like us, who are unfamiliar with most current TV). We will continue to celebrate Leonard's legacy and will miss him
Gassho,
Sue and Karl
